Mr. Warren Garlan Beasley

Mr. Warren Garlan Beasley, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Beasley was born in Surry County on November 20, 1935 to Fletcher and Lucy Beasley. He was retired from Mount Airy Police Department after 26 years of dedicated service and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be sorely missed. Surviving is his devoted wife, Mary Poteat Beasley; a son, Michael Beasley; daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Chandler, Teresa Edwards and Tammy and Reid Tilley; grandchildren, Timmy McMillian and Cindy Simmons and husband Bryant; great grandchildren, Colten McMillian, Autumn Simmons and Hayden Simmons; a sister and brother-in-law, Wilna and Donald Durham and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by infant sisters, Macy and Mamie Beasley and a brother, Otis Beasley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Chaplain Gray Shelton and Chaplain Ricky Spencer. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Woltz Hospice Home staff, especially Dr. Kinsley, and to Mountain Valley Hospice, especially Jennifer Easter and Margo for the wonderful care given to Mr. Beasley during his illness.
