Mr. Warren Lee Collins, age 88 of Mt. Airy, in the Westfield community passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Golden Living Center. Mr. Collins was born in Surry County on November 30, 1923 to the late William Andrew and Nina Jessup Collins. He served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a lifetime farmer. Surviving is his devoted wife, Sarah Jessup Collins of the home; sisters, Christine White of Dobson, Versie Melton of State Road; sisters-in-law, Nina Reeves and her husband, Roger of Pilot Mountain, Nona Dyson and her husband Ted of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Myers; brothers, James, Hal and Cecil Collins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Culler officiating. Burial will follow in the Albion Community Church Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
