Mr. Warren G. "The Basket Man" Shuff

Mr. Warren G. “The Basket Man” Shuff, age 96, of Woolwine passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on Feb. 24, 1921 to the late Robert M. and Virginia May Foley Shough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Agnes Rorrer Shuff; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Clark Shuff; four sisters, Ada Smith, Maude Rakes, Emma Clark, Maggie Clark; and six brothers, Thomas, Samuel, Ross, Sherman, Jacob, and John D. Shough. Mr. Shuff served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient; was a member of Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church; and had retired from J.P. Stevens.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Ron Clark of Woolwine; three sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Dorcas Shuff of Elkin, NC, Bennett Shuff of Woolwine, Barney Shuff of Yukon, OK; five grandchildren, Tabitha Sigmon, Tonya Randolph, Douglas Shuff, Jr, Andrea Hooker, Felecia Haymore; 10 great grandchildren, Damian Beasley, Hannah Beasley, Zachary Randolph, David Sigmon, AJ Sigmon, Lexie Shuff, Pasiley Shuff, Nathan Shuff, Charlee Shuff, Christopher Shuff; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. Marion Poythress, Rev. Ken Terry, and Douglas Shuff, Sr officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
