Mr. Warren Leon "Shotgun" Wimbush, age 69 of Stoneville, North Carolina passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the Hospice of Rockingham County Hospice Home in Wentworth, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on August 1, 1940 to the late Lester and Nannie Conner Wimbush. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wimbush was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Foddrell and Annie Lee Hairston, and three brothers, Alfred, Curtis and Bernard Wimbush. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, and had worked for Pilson Sawmill.
Mr. Wimbush is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Lockett of Martinsville, Charlene and James Smith of Stoneville, North Carolina and Elder Calandra and Randy Hairston of Martinsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Juan and Aleisha Wimbush of Fieldale; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Junior and Avis Wimbush of Woolwine, Clifford and Rosie Wimbush of Martinsville, Joe Wimbush of Stuart and James and Violet Wimbush of Collinsville; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and James Wells of Stuart and Virginia and Kenny Hairston of Collinsville.
Funeral services for Mr. Wimbush will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Assembly Building on Carver Road with Rev. Junior Wimbush officiating. Burial will follow in the Wimbush Family Cemetery. A wake will be held one hour prior to the service at the Assembly Building. The family will receive friends at the home of a daughter, Elder Calandra Hairston, 1826 Terry's Mountain Road, Martinsville. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
