Mr. W.C. Dowell

Mr. W.C. Dowell, 84, of 56 Mainline Road, Cana, VA, passed away early Thursday morning, November 14, 2013, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Dowell was born May 21, 1929, in Carroll County, VA, the son of the late David Cleveland and Sarah Jane Richardson Dowell. He retired from Hennis Freight Line, Spector Red Ball then owned and operated Mainline Motors. Mr. Dowell was a member of Cana Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Judy Williams Dowell of the home; a daughter, Kathy Payne of Dobson; a son, Shawn Dowell of Cana; four grandchildren, Luke, Logan and Maddux Dowell and Megan Payne. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dowell was preceded in death by a son, Greg Dowell; a grandson, Kaden James Dowell; two brothers, Roger Dowell and James Hasten "Jay" Dowell. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Cana Baptist Church, with the Rev. Russell Vass and Rev. Brian Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Dowell's Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cana Baptist Church Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
