Mr. Wilbur Lane Hawks

Mr. Wilbur Lane Hawks, age 79, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017. Mr. Hawks was born in Surry County on June 16, 1937, to Olen and Sadie O’Dell Hawks. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-great grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Those who will always cherish his memory are his children, Lane Hawks and wife Bonnie, Lisa York and husband Rick, and Brent Hawks and wife Robin; his grandchildren, Julie Newton and husband, Matthew, Joni Repola and husband Shane, Lindsay Stanley and husband Jon, Engle Balzer and husband Brian, Kellye Fussell and husband Drew, Jared Hawks and wife Amy, Allison Hawks, and Kaitlyn Hawks; his precious great-grandchildren, Mattison Newton, Jordan Newton, Parker Stanley, Cannon Stanley, Owen Balzer, Charlotte Balzer, Molly Jane Fussell, Laila Hawks, Kennedy Hawks and one on the way; and a sister, Helen Watson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by his loving wife, Freda Hawks. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 3, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ted Turner. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
