Mr. Wilburn Dale Essary

Mr. Wilburn Dale Essary, age 75 of Stuart, Virginia passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 at his home. He was born in San Angelo, Texas on December 17, 1934 to the late Emmett Clarence Essary and Lydia Faye Wolff Essary. He served for a combined total of 36 years in the United States Navy and United States Naval Reserves and retired as a Naval Captain. He also worked as a missile engineer at White Sands Missile Range in White Sands, New Mexico on many programs for the United States Army and retired January, 1997. He was an active member of the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department, and at First Baptist Church in Bassett.
Mr. Essary is survived by his wife, Toni Truchan Essary of the home; two sons, Dale Essary of Fresno, California and T.L. Essary of Bassett; two daughters; Valerie Essary of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Karen Essary Shaw of Portales, New Mexico; seven grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Faye Patterson of Buffalo, Texas; and an aunt and uncle, Melba and Chester Sylvester of San Angelo, Texas.
Funeral services for Mr. Essary will be held Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bassett with Pastor Lew Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairystone Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.
