Mr. William Edward Chandler

Mr. William "Bill" Edward Chandler, age 86 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012, at his home. Mr. Chandler was born in Surry County on September 5, 1926 to Walter Leo and Camy Victoria Byrd Chandler. He proudly served our country in the United States Army, was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a devoted and loved member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are his loving wife, Fay Gilley Chandler of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Cheryle Chandler of Sunnyvale, CA; Debra and Don Edmonds of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Beth Cornett and husband, John; Lynn Wilkes and husband, Charlie and Karen Apple and husband, Josh; great grandchildren, Noah Wilkes, Allison Apple, Micah Apple and Chandler Wilkes who is due in October. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Lou Norman and Barbara Ann Tolbert and a brother, Clarence Chandler. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Robert McCrary. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with military honors by Patrick County Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home.
