Mr. William Robert Creasey

Mr. William Robert Creasey, age 89 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on November 2, 1923 to the late Robert Edgar and Anice Smart Creasey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creasey was preceded in death by his wife, India O. Moran Creasey; two sisters, Rachel Rogers and Zula Mae Haney; and one brother, Earl Creasey. He lived in Patrick County his entire life, except for 2 1/2 years while he served his country in the United States Army during World Ward II in the European Campaign. He earned sharpshooter status and a purple heart for combat wounds. After returning to Stuart, he worked on the farm with his father and eventually earned trade certificates in electrical and general maintenance skills. Mr. Creasey retired from employment after having worked at the former R.J. Reynolds Hospital (now Pioneer Community Hospital) and the Blue Ridge Nursing Center.
Mr. Creasey is survived by his nieces and nephews, Allie Mae Rorrer, Nancy Harris, Willa Kay Hubbard, Jimmie Blaine Rogers, Steven Michael Haney and Angela Marie Davis; and special grand-nephew and caregiver, Bobby Jefferson, as well as many other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Creasey will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Bernard Handy officiating. Burial will follow in Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
