Mr. William Emmett Forrest

Mr. William Emmett Forrest, Jr., 85 of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Forrest was born in Gaston County, September 3, 1927 the son of the late William Emmett Forrest, Sr. and Margaret Haynes Forrest. Mr. Forrest was retired from Pike Electric, and after his retirement he was actively involved with Surry Arts Council and the Andy Griffith Museum. Mr. Forrest was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II and a longtime member of Grace Moravian Church in Mount Airy. Surviving are two daughters and sons in law, Dixie and Wes Beroth of Bermuda Run, and Terri and Tom Champney of Advance; one son and daughter in law, Steve and Jeanne Forrest of Clemmons; two granddaughters, Tamsen F. Beroth and her husband, Brian Wheeling of Advance and Tanna H. Beroth of Advance; four step grandchildren, Tiffany Smith, Cassidy Champney, Alex Champney and Bonny Blackard; step great granddaughter, Jaden Smith; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Forrest was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara King Forrest, and his sisters, Frances F. Martin, and Opal F. Pike. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Grace Moravian Church with Rev. Tony Hayworth officiating. Interment will follow in God's Acre. The Forrest family will receive friends at the Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy on Monday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Moravian Church 1401 N. Main St. Mount Airy, NC 27030, Surry Arts Council 218 Rockford St. Mount Airy, NC 27030 and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mount Airy, NC 27030.
