Mr. William Lindsay "Bill" Harnsberger, Jr., age 70 of Patrick Springs, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 24, 2012. He was born in Henry County on September 15, 1942, to the late William Lindsay Harnsberger, Sr., and Ruth Smoot Harnsberger. Mr. Harnsberger served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war and had retired from the United States Postal Service with 20 years of service. He was a member of Stuart United Methodist Church, and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed being outdoors with his family and friends.
Mr. Harnsberger is survived by is wife, Carolyn Ayers Harnsberger of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Scotty Thompson of Spencer; one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Christy Harnsberger of Advance, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Nash Thompson, Tripp Thompson, Kyleigh Harnsberger and Bryce Harnsberger; and one sister, Ruth Carroll Harnsberger of Stuart.
A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Fred Gilley officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and following the graveside service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patrick County 4-H Shooting Club, c/o Dale Owens, P.O. Box 128, Stuart, Virginia 24171. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
