Mr. William Lee Law, age 87 of Bassett, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the V.A. Medical Center in Salem. He was born in Raleigh County, West Virginia on April 12, 1925 to the late Harry A. and Hattie Koger Law. In addition to his family, Mr. Law was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Stone Law; a sister, Carol Bowling; and a brother, James Law. He was a member of Blackberry Baptist Church, served in the United States Army during World War II, and was a retired certified professional civil engineer.
Mr. Law is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Susan and Harry Mott of Blacksburg, Deborah L. and Tom Cullen of Lewisburg, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Jennifer Shahrokhi, and husband, Shahram and Christina Cullen; one great-grandchild, Joey Credit; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bernice Joyce of Gretna and JoAnn and Wayne Wood of Germanton, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Gerda Law of Bassett; a brother-in-law, Leonard Bowling of Stuart; friends and extended family.
Funeral services for Mr. Law will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Blackberry Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. G. H. Vaughan, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. If desired, memorials may be made to the Blackberry Baptist Church, 3241 Stones Dairy Road, Bassett, Virginia 24055.
