Mr. William Clarence Lawson, age 68 of Patrick Springs, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born in Patrick County on February 20, 1943 to the late Thomas Johnson Lawson and Mattie Stovall Lawson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a son, William Michael Lawson; two brothers, Hanson "Hoss" Lawson and Bennie Lawson; and four sisters, Elva Hazelwood, Carrie Rakes, Mary Holt and Peggy Williams. He had been a dye technician at C.P. Films.
Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife, Connie Adams Lawson of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan L. and Jim Kennon of Lynchburg, and Karen "Cookie" Gibson of Reidsville, North Carolina; one son and daughter-in-law, Ryan Steven and Crystal Lawson of Franklin; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jewett Bullins of Madison, North Carolina, Opal Turner of Patrick Springs and Vergie Lawson of Stuart; one brother, Emmett Lawson of Ridgeway; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Lawson will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
