Mr. William R. "Bill" Martin

Mr. William R. "Bill" Martin, age 89, of Stuart, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at The Landmark Center in Stuart. He was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on May 17, 1921 to the late Harry Lee and Judea Ray Martin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Moore, and one brother, Charlie Martin. He had served in the United States Army during World War II, and was a life long member of Peters Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred West Martin of Stuart; two daughters, Sue M. Redden, and husband, Steve, of Jonesville, North Carolina and Carol M. Luckey, and husband, Tony, of Denver, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Steven Drum and Amy Drum; and one great-granddaughter, Bailee Drum.
Funeral services for Mr. Martin will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Peters Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Ragsdale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Peters Creek Baptist Church. If desired, memorials may be made to Peters Creek Baptist Church, 6561 NC Hwy. 8 N., Lawsonville, North Carolina 27022. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
