Mr. William Henry Martin

Mr. William Henry Martin, age 74 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on September 24, 1936. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by one daughter, Faye Martin Howell; his father, Wase Martin; his mother and step-father, Lois Pruitt Martin Owens and J. E. Owens. He had served in the United States Marines.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Holt Martin of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Kaye M. and Richard Wagoner of Martinsville; one son, Billy Joe Martin of Stuart; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gracie Woods of Madison, North Carolina and Linda Faye Wells of Westfield, North Carolina; and one brother, Berkley Owens of Stuart.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at True Gospel Baptist Church with Rev. J. R. Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
