Mr. William Alan Matthews

Mr. William Alan Matthews, age 59, of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Matthews was born in Surry County on September 16, 1957, to Bobby Joe and Gladys Collins Matthews. He worked at Cross Creek Apparel for thirty years and later for L. S. Starrett Co. Mr. Matthews was a loving husband, father and friend to so many. Those who will always cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Pamela Jones Matthews; his son, William Blake Matthews; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Junior McRoberts; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Darrell and Donna Matthews; and Mike and Vicky Matthews; his father-in-law, Dwight Jones and wife Gaye; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Debbie and Larry Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Barbara Edwards Jones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Thomas and Rev. Randy Edwards. Burial will follow in Goins Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
