Mr. William Roy Pilson, age 86 of Stuart, passed away Monday, October 2, 2006 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on January 16, 1920 to the late Dallas V. and Alpha Morrison Pilson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pilson was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Pilson; five brothers, E.V., Eugene, Ralph, Alfred, and Wayne Pilson; and one sister, Wilma Sue Foley. He served in the United States Army during World War II, was a member of Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a member of the VFW Post 7800.
Mr. Pilson is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Pilson of Stuart; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Ken Legge of Raleigh, North Carolina and Wanda and Billy Hennis of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Naomi Pilson of Stuart; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; twelve great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Mae Smart of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mr. Pilson will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with Revs. Jack Foley, Kenneth Terry and Bennett Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
