Mr. William Earl Wilmoth, Sr., 88, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Central Continuing Care surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on April 1, 1925 to the late William Jennings and Lillie Mae Campbell Wilmoth. Mr. Wilmoth was retired from Wayne Farms Maintenance Department and a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Chuck Fishel of Mount Airy and a son, Earl Wilmoth, Jr. and friend, Vicky Mae Hicks of Dobson; two very special granddaughters, Mindy Ireland and friend, Jason Compton of East Bend and Mallory Ireland Wentzell and husband Christopher of Winston-Salem; his great-grandson, Trevor Lee Dutton and expectant great- granddaughter Avery Leigh; two brothers, Hobert Wilmoth and Wade Wilmoth; a sister-in-law, Vallie White. Waiting at the Gates of Heaven to greet him were his parents and his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Vera White Wilmoth. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at Fairview Baptist Church by Dr. Andy Atkins and Dr. Dan Merritt with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday May 27, 2013 at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorials and Tributes Center, PO Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA. 23058-5216, or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
