Mr. Windell Harden Branch

Mr. Windell Harden Branch, age 86, of Dobson, NC passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC. He was born in Surry Co. on November 30, 1930 to the late James (Jim) Harden Branch and the late Mary Bet Jones Branch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Brown Branch; sisters, Isabella Haymore, Betty Hawks, Nannie Simmons, Pearl Badgett, Ossie Beasley; brothers, Elgin, Monroe, Dillard, Walter (Pug), and O’Neal Branch. He was retired from NC DOT with 29 years of service and worked on the family farm. Surviving are his daughter, Janice Taylor of Dobson; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Vickie Branch of Dobson, Bruce and Wanda Branch of Mt. Airy, Danny and Terri Branch of Rural Hall; grandchildren, Melanie Sprinkle, Hannah Taylor, Blue Branch, Dustin Branch, Victoria and Josh Calhoun, Myles and Brittany Branch, Cassie Hovelson, Katie and Chad Burket; eleven great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and George Cave of Dobson; brother, Eugene Branch of Dobson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Trent Lyons will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time of his service at 2:00 PM. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery C/O Kathy Pegram, 4058 Pleasant Ridge Rd. State Road, NC 28676.
