Mr. Winfred Roy Goins

Mr. Winfred Roy Goins, 88, of Mt. Airy passed away at Central Continuing Care Friday, September 8, 2017. He was born in Stokes County on June 11, 1929 to the late Roy and Earlie Goins. He bravely served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Goins was a brick mason and a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Eun-Mi and Dean and Tamara Goins; grandchildren and spouses, Levi Goins and Emily, Jennifer Goins Frazier and Evan, Christopher Goins and Dina; seven great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Claudine Goins and J.D. and Wilma Goins; and a special friend, Marie Dabney. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goins was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Tate Goins; sisters, Rachel Bryant, Lavinia Smith and Ruth Arrington; brothers, Lee and Alvin Goins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Goins, Michael Goins and Rev. Tyler Hege officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military rites by the VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 an Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Central Continuing Care and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the wonderful care given to Mr. Goins during his stay.
