Mrs. Alberta Rucker King

Mrs. Alberta Rucker King, age 93 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on June 28, 1916 to the late Rufus Green and Belle Davis Tatum. In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husbands; one granddaughter, Becky Joy Thomas; one great-grandson, David Eugene Thomas; six brothers, James Frank, Early, Henry, Benton, Dewey and Bonce Tatum; three sisters, Dixie Tatum, Annie Tatum, and Bishop M.L. Anderson. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Holy Church.
Mrs. King is survived by two sons, William Penn and Robert "Jiggs" Penn of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Thomas of the home; Rebecca and Floyd France of Winston-Salem and Lillian and Richard King of Stuart; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Golden Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Tatum Macedonia Church Cemetery. A wake will be held one hour prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
