Mrs. Alene Sapp Stewart, 95, of Elkin passed away peacefully on Friday October 28, 2011 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on April 2, 1916 to the late Robert Lee and Lula Victoria Ring Sapp. Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker and a member of Stanford Methodist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and son-in-law, Betty Dockery of Elkin and Barbara and Norman Parker of Atlanta GA.; six grandchildren Barry Dockery, Jean and James Longworth, Chris and Tammy Dockery, Scott Parker, Holly and Keith Frank, and Derek and Mary Ann Parker; eight great-grandchildren Joshua and Jacob Longworth, Sydney and Riley Dockery, Brandon and Ashley Parker, Haley Ann Frank , Weston Parker ; a very special friend who was like her son Nub and wife Peggy McCormick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Stewart; a son Bobby Dean Stewart; son-in-law Tommy Dean Dockery; four sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday October 30, 2011 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Dobson City Cemetery. The Family will receive friends on Sunday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson from 2:00 P.M. until time of her service at 4:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Union Cross Ruritan Club C/O Charles Norman 8542 NC HWY 268, Elkin, NC 28621, or to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the family.
