Mrs. Alice Dixon Bowman

Mrs. Alice Dixon Bowman, age 84, of Elkin, NC, passed away Saturday November 5, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born December 20, 1931 in Surry County to the late John Wesley Dixon and Abbie Ray Goodson Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Harvey Junior Bowman: daughter, Glenda Marie Bowman: son-in-law, Tony Holleman: seven brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Bowman was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Steve Melton of Kernersville and Joanne Holleman of Elkin; four grandchildren,Marie Ann Melton, Clara Lynn( Jason) Wagner, Steven Ray Melton and Brian Tony Holleman; two great-grandchildren, Raylin Melton and Riley Melton; and her beloved dog, Trixie. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The funeral will be 3:00 PM Wednesday at Roaring Gap Baptist Church in Lowgap, with Reverend Joe Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Bowman will lie in state at the church from 2:30 to 3:00 prior to the service. The family wishes to express their thanks to the Forsyth Medical Center CICU unit and the respiratory therapist for their loving care.
