Mrs. Almeda Mitchell Park

Mrs. Almeda Mitchell Park, age 93, of Mt. Airy, NC, passed away on Monday afternoon October 22, 2012 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born in Surry County on December 30, 1918 to the late John Sherman Mitchell and the late Lucy Ellen Hodges Mitchell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Homer Park; two sisters, an infant twin sister and Callie Mitchell; two brothers Jacob Mitchell and Warren Mitchell; two nephews Johnny Mitchell and Tony Mitchell. She was retired from Valencia Community College in Orlando Florida and was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are one sister-in-law Dorothy Mitchell of Dobson, NC; Several nieces and nephews, her guardian niece Sandra and David Martin, in addition Dink and Karen Mitchell, Sharon and Ricky Adkins, Wanda Dobbins, Grady Mitchell, Roy Mitchell, Randy and Angel Mitchell; and several great nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday October 25, 2012 at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. Rev. Robert McCreary will conduct the services. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 o'clock noon until the time of the service at the church, and at other times the home of her sister-in-law Dorothy Mitchell 2155 Prison Camp Rd. Dobson, NC 27017. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church or the Mountain Valley Hospice Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mt.
