Mrs. Anna Marquerite Shuhart Oakes

Mrs. Anna Marquerite Shuhart Oakes, age 94 passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Mater Dei Nursing Home in Elmer, New Jersey. She was born in Pine Beach, New Jersey on January 21, 1916 to the late Albert and Anna Sauer Shuhart. She had formerly lived in Meadows of Dan, VA where she was a member of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church from 1977 until 1996. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oakes was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon C. Oakes; one daughter, Carol Ann Piper; one sister, Louise Ruth Saal; and two brothers, Albert L. Shuhart and Harry Shuhart.
Mrs. Oakes is survived by one daughter, Alice Jean Houseal and husband Ed of Marlton, New Jersey, and one son, Richard Vernon Oakes and wife Sylvia of Woolwich Township, New Jersey, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Oakes will be held Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Shockley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
