Mrs. Anna Mae Robertson Dowell Thomas

Mrs. Anna Mae Robertson Dowell Thomas, 92, of Cana, VA, passed away at her home on Friday, November 18, 2016. She was born in Carroll County on May 21, 1924 to the late Floyd Anderson and Jessie Lee Chappell Robertson. Mrs. Thomas retired from Salem Knitting in Martinsville. She was a hard worker and enjoyed working in her flowers and yard. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Leonard Arnold Dowell; a granddaughter, Nancy Lynn Barnes and husband, Ken; great granddaughter, Kelly Grace Barnes and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Martin Dowell; her second husband, Walter Anderson Thomas; a sister, Rose Ella Arrington; brothers, Anderson, Oscar, Cassell, Donald, Billy and Benton “Red” Robertson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery.
