Mrs. Annie H. Helms

Mrs. Annie Howell Helms, age 75 of Meadows of Dan passed away Sunday morning at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born on Dec. 28, 1934 in Patrick County to the late Emmitt O. Howell and Nora Knowles Howell. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Helms; five sisters, Virginia H. Inman, Margie H. Weeks, Lillian H. Cockram, Elva H. Harris, Myrtle H. Gregory; and two brothers, Glenn and Roy E. Howell. Mrs. Helms was a member of Old Dan River Primitive Baptist Church for 48 years.
Surviving are two daughters and a son in law, Phyllis H. and Steve Nester of Meadows of Dan, Karen L. Lawson of Stuart; two sons and a daughter in law, James S. and Barbara Helms of Durham, NC, Ray E. Helms of Vesta; 8 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; one brother and sister in law, William D. and Betsy Howell of Martinsville; and one sister, Alpha Campenella of Sacramento, CA.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Old Dan River Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Tim McGrady and Dan Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in the Knowles-Eden Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
