Mrs. Annie Marie Gray Rogers, age 79 of South Boston, and formerly of Patrick County, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Sherry Smith. She was born in Patrick County on October 1, 1934 to the late Willie Sanders Gray and Lottie Martin Gray. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Rogers; one son, Timmy Lee Rogers; and two sisters, Ruth Crannell and Mabel Boaz. She was a long time member of Peters Creek Baptist Church, having joined the church in 1953. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and had a special love for children.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry R. and Danny Smith of South Boston; a granddaughter, Angel Dawn Wilkins of Radford; a grandson, Andrew Rogers Wilkins of South Boston; a sister and brother-in-law, Willie Mae and James Spot Ray of Stuart; and a twin brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Rachel Gray of Lawsonville, North Carolina.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Peters Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Wilkins and Pastor Terry Ragsdale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and other times at the homeplace.
