Mrs. Ardena Jarrell Moncus

Mrs. Ardena Jarrell Moncus, age 92, of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her home. She was born February 27, 1925 in Surry County to the late Tommy and Nina Jarrell. She retired from Spencer’s and was a member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Wilson; grandchildren, Dawn Wilson, Brandon Wilson and wife Melissa, Curtis Moncus and wife Alex, and Christian Hernandez-Galicia and husband Hector; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kandon, Bryson, Layden, Taylor, Kalynn and Kailee; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moncus was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Moncus; daughters, Nina Mae and Linda Sue Moncus; sons, Bobby Moncus and Curtis Moncus, Jr.; son-in-law, Sammy Wilson, and brothers, B.F. and Wayne Jarrell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 26, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis “Bud” Cameron officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Friday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
