Mrs. Arlene E. Gwynn

Mrs. Arlene Janice Easter Gwynn, age 79, of Ararat, VA, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Gwynn was born in Carroll County on August 22, 1938, to Carnis and Celestia Rigney Easter. She was retired from Patrick County School System and was a member of Willis Gap Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and gentle smile. Among the many who will forever cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Doug Jones; her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Deb Gwynn; her grandchildren, whom she was so proud of and loved so dearly, Drew Jones and Emily Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law, Geneva Dowell; Josie and Richard Nichols; Louise and Larry Marsh; and Donald Hull; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete Easter; Alvin and Shelby Easter; and Bennil and Patsy Easter; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gwynn was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Gwynn; an infant son; and a sister, Ruby Hull. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Willis Gap Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Scotty Bullins. The family will receive friends Tuesday beginning at noon at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Joy Ranch Home for Children at 813 Joy Ranch Rd., Woodlawn, VA 24381.
