Mrs. Arlene Hayes Simcox

Mrs. Arlene Hayes Simcox, 95 of Lowgap passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Simcox was born in Surry County on January 22, 1916 to the late George and Susie Mayes Hayes. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Ladonia Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Paul Johnson of Wilkesboro; grandchild, Larisa J. Leapley of North Wilkesboro; great grandchildren, Olivia Ann and Sydney Elizabeth Leapley both of North Wilkesboro; sisters-in-law, Roxie, Dorothy and Nancy Hayes all of Mt. Airy; Mary Hayes of Richmond, VA; Wanda Hayes of Sarasota, FL. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simcox was preceded in death by her husband, Kester Simcox; seven brothers, Cody, Acus, Welch, Dale, Raymond, George Wayne and Arnold "Bob" Hayes; sister-in-law, Marvine Hayes. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Ladonia Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1:30 PM until time of the service. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy is assisting the Simcox family.
