Mrs. Arlie Pratt Cockram

Mrs. Arlie Pratt Cockram, age 97 of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born in Floyd County on December 23, 1911 to the late Romanus and Mary Salmons Pratt. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cockram was preceded in death by her husband, Hammie D. Cockram; one son, Troy Davis Cockram; one great-grandson, Matthew Ruane; four sisters, Vada Hubbard, Lela Moran, Icie Chapman and Alma Pratt; and one brother, Howard Pratt. She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cockram is survived by one daughter, Eileen Cosby of Mechanicsville; one son, Lane Cockram of Martinsville; five granddaughters; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cockram will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Norman Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
