Mrs. Barbara Jean Brown Jessup

Mrs. Barbara Jean Brown Jessup, 76, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Surry County on December 1, 1939 to the late Robert Lee and Pauline Reynolds Brown. Mrs. Jessup was a loving wife and mother. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. She was employed as a registered nurse and nursing instructor at Northern Hospital of Surry County until 1976 when she left to join her husband and family to own and operate Holly Springs Grocery and Garage, which they did until retirement. Left to cherish her memories are, her husband, Arnold Boyd Jessup; her son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Leigh Ann Jessup; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Michael Branch and her brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Sylvia Brown. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by a sister, Bethania Brown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2016 at Westfield Baptist Church with Dr. Joel Stephens officiation. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 until the time of the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Westfield Baptist Church, 6713 Westfield Rd.
