Mrs. Barbara Ruth Isaacs Spainhour

Mrs. Barbara Ruth Isaacs Spainhour, age 79 of Pinnacle, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 6, 2017. She was born July 3, 1938 in Pulaski, VA to Henry Grady Isaacs and Mary Catherine Haymore Isaacs. Barbara graduated from Dobson High School in 1957 and married her soul mate, Perry Erastus Spainhour. They were married for 51 years. Barbara was a dedicated member of Shoals Baptist Church, a member of the WMU and choir until failing health. Barbara was the Jail Matron and Erastus was the Jailer under Surry County Sheriff Jim Taylor. She loved flowers, gardening, canning, bird watching and circle a word books. Famous in the Shoals community for her yeast rolls. Barbara raised tobacco, chickens, and worked public work to provide for her family. She retired from Novant Health. Barbara is survived by one daughter, Teressa (Dan) Henderson; two sons, Perry Randall Spainhour, and Christopher Brian Spainhour and spouse Gernie Hall; grandchildren, Tosha Nicole (Preston) Murry, Perry Thomas (Jessica) Wright, Amber Spainhour, and Catherine Spainhour; a step grandson, Joel Rose; great-grandchildren, Daniel Murrey, Cannon Murrey, Elynor Wright, and many more; sister, Betty (Larry) Chilton; brothers, Jerry (Virginia) Isaacs, Richard (Shearlie Poe) Isaacs, Ted (Audry) Isaacs, Phillip (Vickie) Isaacs, and Donald (Bryanna) Isaacs; and two precious companions, Harley and Baily. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Spainhour was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Isaacs. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Shoals United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Pillsbury and Dr. John Clagett officiating. Burial will follow in the Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday at Shoals UMC from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. The family would like to give special thanks to Kindred At Home Care of King and Village Care of King (100 Hall) for all of the love and care shown to Barbara during her illness.
