Mrs. Beatrice Griffith Moran, age 88 of Woolwine, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on January 17, 1919 to the late Frank and Lena Roberson Griffith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moran was preceded in death by three sisters, Viva Turner, Bernadine Byrd and Vilrie Griffith; and eight brothers, Ithmer "Pappy", Earl, Caris, Carl, Landis, Calvin, Charlie, and Winfred Griffith. She was a longtime member of Woolwine United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Moran is survived by her husband, Elzie Hugh Moran of the home; four brothers, Merton and Bethel Griffith, both of Eden, North Carolina, Enos Griffith of Cave Springs, Frank Griffith, Jr. of Floyd; four sisters, Elonzia Griffith, Martha Griffith, Julia Scott and Shirley Martin, all of Woolwine; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Moran will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Woolwine United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Hunt and Pastor Jack Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Woolwine United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 74, Woolwine, Virginia 24185.
