Mrs. Bernice Wood

Mrs. Bernice Lillian Roberson Wood, age 94 of Landmark Center and formerly of Woolwine, Virginia passed away, Friday, June 13, 2008 at Landmark Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on February 21, 1914 to the late George Landon Roberson and Ella Roberston Roberson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Wendell Wood, two brothers; Ervin and Roy Roberson, five sisters; Virgie Cockram, Meda Moricle, Ovilla Rakes, Glada Williams, and Mildred Hopkins. Mrs. Wood received her bachelor's from Radford University, she taught for 32 years in the Patrick County Public School System, she was a member of the Patrick County Retired Teacher's Association, and a lifetime member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wood is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Ronald D. and Peggy Wood of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Benjamin L. and Connie Wood of Woolwine, Virginia, four grandchildren; Wendy Sheppard, Shannon & husband, Danny Cornwell, Justin Wood, and Darin Wood, three great-grandchildren; Jesse Sheppard, Sarah Sheppard, and Kirstin Wood.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Wood will be held Monday, June 16, 2008 at 11:00 am at Sycamore Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
