Mrs. Bertha Lou Dawson Brannock, age 86 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Northern Hospital. Mrs. Brannock was born in Carroll County on January 8, 1927 to the late George Lester and Sarah Elizabeth Edwards Dawson. She was a homemaker and member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She dearly loved and enjoyed cooking and caring for her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are, a daughter, Lisa Brannock of Mt. Airy and fiancé, William Sisk; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Carolyn Brannock of Pilot Mountain, Larry and Donna Brannock of Cana; grandchildren, Kristen Brannock, Brandon, Luke and Lee Brannock and Nick Jones; and great grandsons, Sy William and Levi Brannock-Arlen; sisters, Irene Thompson and Myrtle Taylor. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brannock was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bill Brannock; sisters, Ruby Sykes, Clarsie Combs, Inez Dawson, Ruth McCraw and by brothers, Otto Dawson, Will Dawson, Edd Dawson, Alph Dawson and Howard Dawson. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. David Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM where the body will remain until the time to be taken to the church.
