Mrs. Bessie Mae Bowman Sutphin

Mrs. Bessie Mae Bowman Sutphin, age 78 of Stuart passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County on October 22, 1930 to the late Zacariah and Ada Pack Bowman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sutphin was preceded in death by an infant daughter; four brothers, Robert Jackson, William Claude, R. L. and Woody Bowman; and one sister, Helen Marie Bowman.
Mrs. Sutphin is survived by her husband, Marvin King Sutphin of the home; four sons, William "Bill" Sutphin, Clyde Norman Sutphin, Glenn Edward Sutphin and John Wayne Sutphin, all of Stuart; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson; one brother, Pete Edward Bowman of Stuart; and one sister, Lou Veely Massey of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sutphin will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church or anytime Friday at the homeplace. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
