Mrs. Betty Imogene Gammons Axsom

Mrs. Betty Imogene Gammons Axsom, age 74 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Axsom was born in Surry County on June 3, 1939 to Adam and Lilly Mae Taylor Gammons. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed. Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Donathan of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Billie Axsom of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Brandy A. Odum and husband, Cecil of Mt. Airy, Abby Axsom also of Mt. Airy and Jessica Donathan of Dobson; great granddaughters, Mercedes Childress, Adrian Odum and "Little Boney" on the way; sisters and brother-in-law, Leona Smith, Edith and Lloyd Barbour and Rosa Barbour all of Mt. Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernie Gammons, Gilmer and Lynn Gammons, Leroy Gammons all of Mt. Airy and Jimmy and Sue Gammons of Dobson; a step brother, Colon Forrest and special friends, Judy Willard and Jessie Mae Hatcher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Axsom was preceded in death by a sister, Cleo Gammons; her step mother, Bertha Lee Gammons and a sister-in-law, Irene Gammons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 28, 2013 at Indian Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Ricky Martin. Burial will follow in Indian Grove Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home.
