Mrs. Betty Jo Hancock Ayers

Mrs. Betty Jo Hancock Ayers, age 74 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on October 27, 1941 to the late Henry Forrest Hancock and Myrtle Helms Hancock. She retired from DuPont with 27 years of service.

Mrs. Ayers is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ellis E. Ayers of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Belinda A. and John Adams of Salem; a son, Steven E. Ayers of Salem; four grandchildren, Maegan Doyle, Kayla Ayers, Jordan Doyle and wife, Rachel, and Ellisa Ayers; four sisters, Jean Gilley of Stuart, Jeraldean Harrell of Martinsville, Anne Underwood of Walkertown, North Carolina and Irene Morrow of Indian Land, South Carolina; and a brother, Michael Hancock of Olive Hill, Kentucky.

A memorial graveside service will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastors Fred Gilley and John Franklin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vesta Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 911, Meadows of Dan, Virginia 24120 or to CurePSP, 30 E. Padonia Rd, Suite 201, Timonium, MD, 21093.
