Mrs. Betty Lou Wood Hardy

Mrs. Betty Lou Wood Hardy, age 83, of Dobson, NC passed away on Sunday March 13, 2016 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry Co. on May 19, 1932 to the late Carl Wilson and Madge Beamer Wood. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother, she was retired from Hodges Ins. Agency, and became a member of Salem Fork Christian Church June 1953, where she was in the same Sunday School class for over sixty years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the love of her life Richard McKinely Hardy; one brother Wilson Wood. Surviving are her two daughters and son-in-law Rebecca “Becky” Hardy Perkins and husband Jeffery Perkins of Dobson; Vicky Robin Hardy Stephens of Raleigh; grandchildren Richard Lee Poplin and wife Brandi Poplin, Megan Stephens Gallagher and husband David Gallagher, Andrew Stephens; great-grandchildren Ava Poplin, Harper Gallagher, Zephyr Gallagher; brother and sister-in-law Carl Beamer Wood and wife Catherine Wood of Shelby. A celebration of her life will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday March 15, 2016 at Salem Fork Christian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Austin Caviness and Daisy Chambers will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Salem Fork Christian Church on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until time of her service. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Salem Fork Christian Church C/O Imogene Hardy 253 Judsville School Rd. Dobson, NC 27017 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Ln. Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Hardy family.
