Mrs. Betty Ruth Freeman Mabe

Mrs. Betty Ruth Freeman Mabe, age 89, of Golf Course Rd., Spencer passed away Friday, June 24, 2016. She was born in Patrick County to the late Joseph Freeman and Betty Lou Grady Freeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Mabe; five sisters, Alpha Campbell, Janie Slate, Elsie Hodges, Pencie Stowe, Beadie Shelton; and three brothers, George, Hardin, and David Freeman. Mrs. Mabe was retired from Pannill Knitting and was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and David Floyd of Martinsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Bernard “Bernie” and Celia Mabe of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Stephanie Brooks, Jeremy Mabe, Jodi Hendrix, Bryan Rakes; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Cassie Martin of Martinsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with LaRay Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Patrick Memorial Gardens.
