Mrs. Betty Jean Holder Phipps

Mrs. Betty Jean Holder Phipps, 68, of Lowgap, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Phipps was born in Surry County on September 15, 1949, to Woodrow Thomas and Ella Wilson Holder. She was retired from Walmart and was a member of Holy Cross Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Rev. Robert Phipps of the home; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian Seal and Bill, Mary Becker and Greg, Louise Michaels; Jewel Stanley, Nancy Baity and Jim; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Sam Holder and Thelma, Rev. Butch Holder and Sandra, Donald Holder and Doris, Raymond Holder and Burnell; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phipps was preceded in death by her step-father Winfred Hodges. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Holy Cross Baptist Church with the Rev. Butch Holder and the Rev. Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until time for the service at Holy Cross Baptist Church.
