Mrs. Betty Louise Coake Atkins Weddle Age 75 of Mt. Airy passed away July 24, 2012 at the home of her son Jeff Weddle. Mrs. Weddle was born April 29, 1937 in Surry County to the late Edward Theopliss and Susan "Ellen" Smith Collins Coake, Betty accepted Jesus as her savior around 1955 and was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church, Ararat. NC. She loved her family and wanted them all to live for the Lord. She was always looking for the Lord to come back. Surviving children born to the late Ernest Atkins and Betty Atkins are Shelby Jane and husband Bruce Hawks, Glenda Sue and husband James Phillips, Janet Kay Burkhart, Geraldine and husband Ray Hutson, Mark Edward Atkins and Ernest Michael (Mike) Atkins all of Mt. Airy, NC, children born to the late Phillip Weddle and Betty Weddle are Kenneth Wayne Weddle of Mt. Airy, Jeffrey Phillip and wife Lisa Weddle of Pilot Mountain and Gregory Todd and wife Jan Weddle of Cana, VA, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one step great grandchild and one brother and sister-in-law William Monroe "Willie" and Jane Coake of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents Mrs. Weddle was preceded in death by her first husband Ernest Atkins, by her second husband Phillip Weddle, one grandchild, one great grandchild two half brothers James Collins and Luther Collins and one half sister Thelma Sawyers. Funeral services will be held Friday July 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Little Mountain Baptist Church, Ararat, NC, with services conducted by Rev. Bill Watson, Bro. Ray Hutson, Rev. Travis Hawks and Rev. Noel Hawks with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night 6 to 9 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mt.
