Mrs. Beulah Belton Freeman age 92 of Mt. Airy, NC passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born on April 27, 1920 in Surry County County to the late Joe and Bessie Trail Belton. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Mrs. Freeman is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Daisy and Ken Slate of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren and spouses, Kennette and Ray Chappell of Dobson, Alyson and Billy Needham of Ararat, NC, Tara and David Lamb of Westfield and Dusty and Jennifer Slate of Pilot Mountain; ten great-grandchildren and two spouses, Megan and Richard Boswell, Brenna and Juan Perez, Caitlin Lamb, Courtney Chappell, Andrew Chappell, Chase Needham, Kirkland Needham, Madeline Needham, Samuel Slate and Parker Slate; great-great grandchildren, Zachary and Lucy; a brother, Edward Belton; one nephew and several nieces; lifelong friends on Cabin Lane. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Freeman; a daughter, Shirley Hiatt and a son, Sam Freeman; an infant sister, and a sister-in-law, Annie Belton. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2012 at Skyline Memory Gardens with the Rev. Rickey Martin officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 12:30 PM Monday until the time to leave for the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to be sent to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 221312.
