Mrs. Beulah Hazel Handy

Mrs. Beulah Hazel Handy, age 84 of Stuart passed away Friday evening at Northern Hospital in Mt. Airy, NC. She was born on Oct. 1, 1924 in Patrick County to the late Ed Marshall and Clara Cockram Marshall. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Akers Handy; a daughter in law, Pat Handy; a great grandson, Erik Rorrer; one sister, Ina Rakes; and one brother, Willie Marshall. Mrs. Handy was a member of Mayo Mountain Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters and sons in law, Jean and John Pendleton of Stuart, Patty and Albert Fain of Stuart, Sue and Jerry Collins of Stuart; two sons and a daughter in law, Cecil and Freda Handy of Martinsville; David Handy of Chesapeake; 10 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother in law, Katherine and Ed Boyd of Stuart; and Mary Shook of Stuart.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastors David Heath, Mark Collins, and J.R. Vipperman officiating. Burial will follow in the Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 at the funeral home and at other times at her home, 291 Dobyns Rd., Stuart, VA.
