Mrs. Callie "Laurean" Moore Gordon

Mrs. Callie Laurean Moore Gordon, age 78, of Elkin, NC passed away on Monday evening August 14, 2017 at her home. She was born in Surry County on January 19, 1939 to the late William Hawkins and Bessie Hodges Moore. She was a retired elementary school teacher having worked in the Surry County School System. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde David Gordon, sister, Jeannean Moore White, brothers, Paul, Sam, Al, Wayne, Bill, and Arvil Moore. Surviving are her son, Alan Gordon of the home; brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Charlotte Moore of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Lee Ila Gordon of King; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene and Estelle Gordon of Pinnacle. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 17, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Trent Lyons will officiate the service. Her body will remain at Moody-Davis Funeral Home until carried to the church to lie in state 30 min. before the service. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church Memorial Fund, C/O Dorothy Mitchell, 2155 Prison Camp Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
