Mrs. Ethelene Simmons Wilson, age 90 of Pilot Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2011. Mrs. Wilson was born in Surry County on August 1, 1921 to Elzavan and Sophronia Jessup Simmons. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her devoted family and friends. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Pansy and Rev. Kenneth Jessup and Glenda and C. R. Gilley all of Pilot Mountain; grandchildren, Jeff Jessup and wife Sherry, Joey Jessup and wife Heidi, Reid Gilley and wife Susan, Candy Cook and husband Rodney; nine great grandchildren, Misty Wall, Jenny Jessup, Will Jessup, Caleb Gilley, Blake Gilley, Ashley Jessup, Brock Jessup, Grace Cooke and MaryBeth Cooke; one great great-grandchild, Bryce Wall; two sisters, Eunice Cook and Irene Adams; and brothers, Rommie Simmons and Glenn Simmons. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lester Wilson and a brother, Hubert Simmons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Joey Jessup, Rev. Barry Clement and Jeff Jessup. Burial will follow in the Simmons Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Central Continuing Care, especially the CNA's and to Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and compassion given to Mrs. Wilson.
