Mrs. Carrie Mary McCraw Hawks

Mrs. Carrie Mary McCraw Hawks, 86, of Cana, VA passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Carroll County, VA on February 7, 1931 to the late James Isaac and Rosa Ann Vernon McCraw. She was a kind person and always greeted you with her warm smile. Mrs. Hawks is survived by a sister, Ora McCraw; a brother and sister-in-law, Silas and Barbara McCraw; special nephew and care giver, Greg McCraw; and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gray Hawks; sisters, Dora Kotila, Thelma Kane and an infant sister; brothers, Garland, Troy, Arthur, and Calvin “Jake” McCraw. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roland McCraw officiating. Burial will follow in the McCraw Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
