Mrs. Catherine Vergie Buchanan Nowlin

Mrs. Catherine Vergie Buchanan Nowlin, 77, of 1121 Round Peak Church Road, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Nowlin was born December 3, 1929, in Rich Valley, Virginia, to the late William D. and Mary Alice Woods Buchanan. She was retired owner and operator of Carolina Market and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Nowlin is survived by two sisters, Lola Elzenia White of Hickory and Mary Lou Conley of Portsmouth, OH; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nowlin was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Shelton Nowlin; a sister, Grethuel Virginia Stamper; and four brothers, Charles Christopher Buchanan, Ambrose Westley Buchanan, James Braxton Buchanan, and Alexander Buchanan. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 22, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Alton Bledsoe, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
